Avalon Weyr

Avalon Weyr…

With ill dragons, and the once Weyrleaders disappeared between, a pair of dragonriders seek a cure from the devastating illness that impacted their home Weyr just months before. With no end in sight to the disease that seemed to be poisoning the females of Baikal, Bronzerider J’ran and Silverrider Kyliee set out to find the source of the death and destruction, and a possible cure for what ailed their home. After stumbling across the sources of illness, a poisoned lake, the pair traveled further south for the answer to Baikal’s most important question.

Where would happen to the riders and dragons without a Weyr?

Almost by accident, this pair stumbled across a previously undiscovered peninsula. Thick with fertile soil, fields, and forests, the center beckoned the bronze Gabranth with its inactive volcano, weathered away with inactivity and flooding into a natural open Weyr. Returning with the news, Baikal has begun to move into the new land, watching with relief as the dragons improve and the Weyrlings gather, each nervously anticipating the next flight that would bring Avalon Weyr’s first clutch!

Sojourn Weyr

A Weyr in the Northern Continent had grown too big. They were depleting their herds, over taxing the nearby Holds, and it was only a matter of time before two Queens rose together and fought. The Weyrleaders decided to send a scouting party to the Southern continent to find a suitable place for a new Weyr. The scouting party found the perfect place in a canyon, deep within the continent. The canyon was carved thousands of years ago by a large river. It had plenty of craggy places for dragon weyrs, a nearby valley provided enough land for herdbeasts, and there was room to carve out a hatching sands. After more searching and much debate the Weyrleaders decided to start again in the valley and the canyon.

It took Turns to construct, but eventually, the new Weyr, named Sojourn, was finished and people began to move there. The assigned Weyrleader, T’don of bronze Gegoth, is an experienced Wingleader and unanimously voted as the best choice to lead the fledgling Weyr. He brought his whole wing with him in the move, including the competent Weyrlingmaster Sali of green Lueth. His Weyrwoman is Helena, of Gold Lelloth, who was close to making a flight. Helena’s sister, Teyla, became Headwoman to run the caverns and kitchens.

Shortly after their arrival, Lelloth rose as predicted and Gegoth caught her. Now there is a clutch of 22 eggs on the sands, including 2 Queen eggs, waiting for candidates. T’don sent his wing out to spread the word all over Pern, asking for candidates, riders, and anyone willing to work in the kitchens, caverns and corrals.

Sojourn is ready to prove itself and become as great as the Northern Weyr that spawned it. Yet, there are dangers for the new Weyr, not just from Thread. Feline attacks are common and with no near-by Holds, the Weyr has to learn to be self sufficient and of course, the ever present danger of Thread. T’ond is hopeful though, and believes in his new Weyr.

Uh...okay

So, I figured I should update my journal since tomorrow is no longer my birthday.

I'm heading back to school on Sunday, so maybe when I'm there I'll doodle more. Mostly I'm sucked into writing and RPing. You can check out my life and general world at [link] if you want more of me, but other than that, I'm going back to lurking!

Birthday!
